Make your hard times your good times
Posted by: | CommentsIsn’t that so easy to say. Sprouting forth platitudes is child’s play. When you don’t have a job and no prospects of one, these kinds of statements by all these ‘new age’ experts just tend to grate on one’s nerves.
Being unemployed is a dreadful situation to be in. I’ve just recently experienced a frustrating situation. Of course it is nowhere as serious as what people who have been retrenched after years of service are experiencing. Next to that my little episode is quite insignificant.
For the last three years I have been applying for jobs. Any kind of job, from management to answering the phone, to office filing. So far, I have yet to be invited to an interview. As an aside I have years of work experience. I just want to mention as well that I am 61 years old.
Recently I got approached on the strength of my CV I had posted on a website that promised to help retired folk to find employment. I posted my CV there two years ago. I had forgotten about it, it was that long ago.
Would I do some telesales. I said, anything. Hand it over. After six days of this new job, which was so amazing I promptly got a head cold out of sheer stress and excitement, I got retrenched. Yip. That’s it. Terminated.
I don’t think it was the fault of the agency giving me the contract work. That is if the person I’m dealing with is telling the truth. It doesn’t matter, whose fault it is. The situation is that I had hoped to earn a bit of money, and it ended up a very little bit of money.
So how am I going to make my hard times into my good times? That’s a great question. I am still trying to work that one out, but not giving up. There must be a silver lining here. First, I did earn a little bit of money. Second, I now know I can phone up people with whom I have never spoken before. Third?
I’m sure there is lots more I have learnt from this experience. And there will be something the Universe will provide for me. Just got to put that thought out there. Just got to.
If you’ve had experiences similar to mine. Share. I surely could do with a bit of conversation about this.
